revolutionary bodies

there was a time when the mirror would say:
‘go, be revolutionary’.
and i would smile, glitter-haired, mascara nervously applied.
the mall would flood with people’s fear.
oh, the isolated resilience.
‘fuck off’, my body sang. ‘i kiss boys’.

what happened to that precious thing
where the voice of revolution sprang?
